Goin' on an Adventure...

Sweet Bria

When I was younger I remember my Grandma saying, "We're going on an adventure!" whenever an unexpected circumstance would arise.

Well... we have arrived on a new adventure. The end of basketball season brought the promise of a new opportunity for Ryan and our family with the resignation of Coach Flemming as the Head Basketball Coach. Unfortunately, this opportunity was not realized and Ryan has joined the ranks of the stay at home Dads. We can truthfully say however, that God firmly shut the door at MVNU, so we are waiting with confidence for the next opportunity the He has for us. The possibilities are truly endless!

With that said, I am continuing to work at Marion General and have picked up a few extra days each month. We are both so thankful that God saw us through the difficulties of nursing school and that if needed I am able to support our family. And as always, Bria is a bright spot in these times of uncertainty. Her zest for life and excitement over anything and everything continually brings smiles to our faces, and it is a relief to know that she knows only that she is loved and provided for and does not face the concerns that situation has brought to our family.

Bottoms up!

On the home front Bria said "Mama" on April 20 for the first time, she followed up with "Dada" on May 27. She has also been crawling (more like a wounded soldier) waving bye bye, pulling herself up to stand, opening our cupboards and raises her hands up in the air when you say, "How big is Bria... so big!" The last trick is complemets of her cousins Jared and Kyle in New York. Needless to say in the last few weeks she has taken off and we have been following in her wake. She did fabulous at her 9 month check up and weighs in at 20 pounds 13 ounces and is 27 inches long... quite bigger than our 6 pound 4 ounce 19 inch bundle of joy! We also have at least temporarily mastered the diaper rash and have switched her over to cloth. She wears Fuzzi Bunz, charming isn't it? Ryan and I have both agreed cloth diapering was a daunting task to discuss, but it has gone smoothly and is as easy as using disposable diapers (but a WHOLE LOT cheaper)! Thanks to guidance from a cloth diapering family we know washing and fitting her diapers has been a breeze and they are so darn cute!

The last two months have also included my college roommate, Britney's, wedding, Bria's baby dedication, and a trip to New York to visit Ryan's parents. For the sake of time and my ailing post-Bria memory I will include lots of pictures, but don't worry, I'm not planning on writing on it all! We will do our best to keep you updated on the events this summer holds and Ryan's future career! Keep us in your prayers during this challenging time!
